Dance in an Apartment
A dance performance borrowed from the library. Just like a book.

This performance takes place in your own home. In the spring of 2025, the work can be borrowed from the Tranströmer Library on Medborgarplatsen. You go to the library and borrow the dance performance with your library card.

Dance in an Apartment is based on the poetry and personal politics of the poet Tomas Tranströmer, which are intertwined with the magical voice of the artist and singer Kristin Amparo, the dance improvisation of dancer Ebba Ulfhjelm Boström, and Paloma Madrid’s dance, which draws its power from the soles of the feet for artistic presence. The dance performance was first loaned in 2008 to residents of Alby from Alby Library and Botkyrka Municipality. The work has since then toured and is always created in a community spirit with local dancers, participants and artists. It has toured in Iceland, Denmark and Holland and for the City Library during the Stockholm City Culture Festival.

Paloma Madrid (Sweden/Chile) is a dancer, choreographer working across performance, dance, direction, body poetry, writing, and education. As an active performance artist, she explores the body as a constantly evolving medium—one that generates knowledge and serves as a poetic activist force for transformation. A pioneer in her field, Paloma was among the first to introduce community dance in Sweden. Her work continuously investigates the intersection of collaborative processes and social choreography, seeking new ways to rethink and redefine dance and choreography.

Kristin Amparo is a Swedish singer with a piercing and powerful voice. Paloma and Kristin first met when Kristin paid tribute and interpreted the legendary Argentine singer Mercedes Sosa and Paloma danced. She attended Adolf Fredrik’s Music School in Stockholm. She participated in season 1 of the Swedish X Factor in 2012 and in Melodifestivalen 2015 with the song I See You.

Ebba Ulfhjelm Boström is a sámi dancer and multidisciplinary artist based in Stockholm. Ebbas creative work centers on movement and the moving image. Their artistic journey revolves around the power of improvisation and authentic connection through movement. In their creative practice, Ebba explores themes such as embodied knowledge, queerness and discovery of roots.
