Botkyrka Grooves: From The Streets to The Beat
A celebration of the vibrant dance culture in Botkyrka.

Dance artists Afra Hosseini and Ama Kyei, in collaboration with Fanzingo and the dance crew Långt ifrån Lagom, have created the dance film Botkyrka Grooves: From the Streets to the Beat. Showcasing Botkyrka through dance, the film features local dancers and crews from various parts of the community. It captures the spirit of pride and empowerment that defines Botkyrka, celebrating its dance culture and the energy it inspires.

You’ll have the chance to watch the new film and enjoy live performances by Långt ifrån Lagom. Don’t miss out!

The event is part of the Botkyrka Mini Festival at Riksteatern in Hallunda.

Afra Hosseini is a dynamic force in the dance scene, actively working as a dancer, choreographer, dance teacher, host, and organizer of battles and jams. She teaches house dance at Åsa Folkhögskola and Stockholm University of the Arts. Her performance credits include touring with Cullberg in Hooman Sharifi’s While in Battle I’m Free, Never Free to Rest and Sofia Ribeiro’s Revive. Beyond the stage, she has made a significant impact on the Swedish street dance community as the initiator and project manager of Battle of Botkyrka, Uppsala Loves Hip-Hop, and Soultime.

Ama Kyei is a Finnish-Ghanaian dancer, dance teacher, and choreographer with a deep passion for finding freedom through dance. Beyond her love for dance, she is drawn to nature, children, colors, and community, with a strong dedication to creating for and with young people. She completed a street dance education at Åsa Folkhögskola (2014–2016) and earned a bachelor’s degree in dance pedagogy from the University of Arts in Stockholm (2017–2020). In the summer of 2019, she studied traditional West African dances at École des Sables in Senegal. In addition to her formal education, she has deepened her knowledge of contemporary and traditional West African dances through studies in Ghana and Benin.

Långt ifrån Lagom is a dance crew with active dancers from Botkyrka. The members are Cindy Mgbemena, Grace- Marie Achangoh, Hagar Amartey, Wesley Teodora, Lovisa Engvall, Lina Yildirim, Esila Hosseinirad, Gina Peacock, Nancy Peacock, Shahram Rasouli, Sally Rashid, Samuel Ekholtz and Amanda Castillo.
